BBC News - Today - TripAdvisor 'is about common sense'

The Advertising Standards Authority has criticised the travel website TripAdvisor, saying that it cannot claim that reviews on the site are by genuine travellers.

Responding to the claim, TripAdvisor's Emma Shaw told Today business presenter Simon Jack that they have never guaranteed 100% certainty, but that the users of the website had to use their common sense.

There were systems in place to weed out false reviews, she said, and serious punishments against businesses that used the site inappropriately.
